The Sahara and Sahel Observatory takes part in the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification - Abidjan - Côte d'Ivoire, May 11 - 19, 2022

The OSS participation was marked by the organization of two side events on : 

1.    « Ecosystem Natural Capital Accounting for land restoration in Africa », May 13, 2022, 8 :00 a.m. 

This event that aimed to promote the integration of ecosystem service values in national planning processes, brought together a wide range of experts to share ideas and recommendations on how to take advantage of coordinated African ecosystem conservation actions at local, national and regional scales for improved economic growth.

2.    « Strengthening the reporting systems to achieve land degradation neutrality : The potential of geospatial tools », May 16, 2022, 6 :00 p.m. 

The purpose of this event was to promote the value of Earth Observation products and data for monitoring natural resource degradation, to provide relevant decision support tools and to improve national reporting systems.


The OSS participated in the Great Green Wall Day under the theme « The GGW Journey ».
